When it comes to value for money, the ASUS model of the RTX 3080 is going to be the best. In the guru3d test, TUF Gaming achieved a whopping 18504 points and has an excellent cooling system that keeps temperatures under load. When it comes to volume, you are in the moderate range, but the card is still audible under load, and other models are quieter.

You will have to try it out longer to really get more performance from it. A new protection mechanism can lead to poorer performance.

The card doesn’t look very good, but some may like the black. The small side part of the card gives you a more restrained look.

For the price of the RTX 3080 Founders Edition, you can get the entry level model of TUF Gaming. If you don’t want to fiddle with your card and just want a reliable and solidly built RTX 3080, then this is a good choice for you. You get better cooling and quieter operation with the standard card.

Do you want a little more performance as well as a little more cooling? The RTX 3080 GAMING X TRIO is one of the best graphics cards on the market.

The RTX 3080 flagship is factory overclocked to 1815 MHz boost, giving it a slight advantage over some competing models. The huge 3 slot card has three eight pin power connections, which will give you more power for further experiments.

The card was equipped with the Tri Frozr 2 cooler. The perfect balance between quiet and cool should be achieved by this. The first part of the claim can be confirmed by Tweaktown, but the trio is one of the louder cards.

The back plate of the card has amplification equipment on it. Only a few of the LEDs are on the front, so mounting it vertically isn’t the most colorful option. There is a custom made circuit board that gives the card better protection against electrical damage.

When you compare it to the competition’s top models, the Gaming X Trio fromMSI is quite cheap. The bottom line is that you can’t go wrong with this thing, it looks good, has excellent performance, great thermal properties, and is extremely well made.

The range for the manual power limit is smaller with the Founders Edition.

The Zotac Trinity OC is a quieter alternative to the MSI model. According to Techpowerup’s test, the RTX 3080 is barely audible at 32 dBA and still runs relatively cool at 73C, which is why it is often only slightly more expensive. The Trinity OC is considered an all rounder. The fan keeps the card below 60 degrees Celsius while keeping the noise low. You don’t hear anything about the Trinity anymore when the fans are switched off.

The Trinity OC model has a factory increase of 1725 MHz. The Trinity model runs at the reference boost clock of 1710 MHz and has no factory overclocking. Both cards have the same cooling solution, which includes an IceStorm 2.0 cooler with three fans and a metal backplate. The cooling system works well as shown in the figures above.

This is an excellent base model, which easily keeps up with others. If you’re looking for a good overall package, you’ll find it here.

This is an imported card that is not generally available in the US. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 GPU. With new RT Cores, Tensor Cores, and streaming …

Is it possible to install an RTX 3080 and benefit from all the advantages, but not spend a lot? Then look at the model. This was only limited to the essentials.

The iChill models have triple fan designs, but this barebones model only uses two fans. The OC model of the card doesn’t perform as well as others from our comparison, but you get a factory overclocked to 1725 MHz.

The included fans are just as good as the iChill models, with the exception of the blade design. The heatpipes have been reduced from seven to seven and the heatsink is slightly smaller. The total length will be reduced to 27.4 cm, which will give you more space in some cases. The Inno3D Twin OC remains quite quiet despite the disadvantage of only two fans.

For 800 euros, you can get a good RTX 3080, which is a slightly faster alternative to the reference card. You’ll have to cut back on a few points for that price.

Are you looking for a graphics card that is quiet? You will be happy with this model from EVGA. It scored a quiet 31 decibels in Techpowerup’s test. This part can help more than just be quiet. The air cooling for graphics cards has been brought to a new level by EVGA’s FTW3 series.

The RTX 3080 has a thick 3 fan cooler. The only limitation for the RTX 3080’s performance is its increased power limits. Due to the huge power consumption of the chips and the limited power supply, most other cards are sealed off. The reference design pushes that up to a massive 400 W, but the FTW3 pushes it up to a massive 450 W.

This performance gives enthusiasts room to change the basic principle of the card. You can control the speeds of the fans on your own with the 9 sensor monitoring array. We recommend at least 850W with Gold certification for a solid power supply. You will be able to get one of the most powerful versions of the RTX 3080 wherever you go if you choose EVGA’s FTW3 Ultra.

You pay a little more for this and add around 70 80 on top of that, compared to the competition. Here you get first class quality in a very good overall package, and that’s why the FTW3 Ultra is worth its price. The card is eye catching if the red plastic parts on the side don’t bother you.

INNO3D GeForce RTX 3080 ICHILL Frostbite

Positive
  • It’s perfect for ITX.
  • Solid cooling capacity can be achieved with a pre installed water cooler.
  • Strong performance even though it’s small.
  • It was very quiet.
Negatives
  • It’s more expensive than before.
  • Installation was poorly done.
  • Only niche applications are allowed.
  • Optics are not for everyone

You have to put in your case first before you can use the big 3 slot RTX 3080s. The iChill Frostbite is from Inno3D. The compact 2 slot design of the RTX 3080 is perfect for small cases.

The 3080 series is known for its high power consumption, but the frostbite’s pre installed water cooler handles the temperatures with flying colors. Compared to the iChill series for the 2080 Ti, the water block for the RTX 3080 version was further improved to improve heat conduction. The nickel copper block has been reduced in size and the thermal pads have been reduced in thickness. The cooling block is illuminated by the RGB LEDs and glows through the top of the card. You get good temperature values with the 240mm radiator.

If you’re looking for a small case with factory overclocked RTX 3080, you’ll love the iChill Frostbite. It’s a great option for those looking to upgrade their current water cooled PC or perhaps upgrade to premium water cooling.

One of the fastest and most expensive graphics cards is the Gigabyte’s flagship RTX 3080 series. There is a boost of 1,905 MHz on the Aorus GeForce GTX 3080Xtreme 10G. It is the second highest factory overclocked RTX 3080, which is only surpassed by the Strix RTX 3080 O10G Gaming.

The power budget for the card has been given a significant amount of wiggle room thanks to the three eight pin PCIe power connections. This graphics card is cooled by a triple fan with large aluminum blocks and heat pipes.

To make this card stand out from the crowd, Gigabyte has installed a screen on the side that can play animated images, display text and display the card’s operating temperature. It’s a very nice feature.

The only thing that is bothering us is the price, the bottom line is that you will be completely happy with this. You have an uncompromising purchase recommendation from us if Gigabyte can do anything about this. The card is usually 50 more expensive than the flagship, but it is still worth the money. You won’t see any difference in terms of performance, cooling and volume.

All questions will be answered in the RTX 3080 buying advice.

Now that we know which partner cards are the best, we want to explain to you what is important and answer a few frequently asked questions.

Do I need a power supply for the RTX 3080?

The heavy performance of this graphics card series has high power requirements. A power supply with at least 750W of power is required for most new RTX 3080s. A minimum power of 850 watt from your power supply is required for cards like theMSI Gaming X Trio.

You need to make sure your power supply has the cables you need to power a monster. The Gigabyte model requires more ports than any other model in the past. Some models only require 2×8 power plugs, so make sure to check what you need.

How the partner cards are different from the RTX 3080 reference design?

All of the RTX 3080 cards are based on the same graphics processing chip called “Ampere” which is manufactured by the same company. The new type of memory, called GDDR6X, runs at 19 Gbit/s.

Third party designs differ significantly when it comes to the specifications of the reference cards.

These include areas such as boost clock and port selection. The partner cards design is different from the model in some cases. The most important aspects to pay attention to are the models.

Length

Unless you have a big PC case, watch out for variations in card length.

The length of the Founders edition is 26.7 cm, but some RTX versions are more than 30 cm long. From front to back and from top to bottom, check the distance in your housing. The majority of the cards take up a third slot. There may be another card next to it if the latter gets in the way. Measure twice and plan everything cleanly.

Cooling design

There is a fan on either side of the card in the RTX 3080 Founders Edition. The third party maps did not recreate this. The cooling solutions are located on one side of the card.

NVIDIA is taking a different approach when it comes to cooling with their Founders edition. The 3 fan principle is more likely to prove itself, even though it is not a plus or a minus. The presence of three fans is correlated with card length.

rtx-3080-founders-ed-vs-custom-design

Boost clock speed

This is often where you will find the biggest differences. This specification shows how aggressive a particular factory is.

The boost clock of 1935 MHz is the highest we have seen so far for out of the box overclocking. Depending on the model, a bit of further overclocking room is likely to be found in any card that has been increased in power. The tests show that there is no more in the model.

You shouldn’t expect miracles based on our previous research.

Connections

The use of a new power connection is one of the pioneers of the Founders edition. The card has no space for the usual pair or trio of eight and six pin power connections. The reference model had a single 12 pin connector. Two eight pin cables from your power supply can be supported with this.

Third party cards come with a variety of designs with two and three ports, but they don’t follow this pattern.

Ports

Most of the time, there will be three DisplayPort outputs on the RTX 3080 card. There are a few models with two HDMI 2.1 ports anyone who needs them should look out for. Most of the RTX 3080 cards have an HDMI port.

You won’t find a VirtualLink port here, unlike the last generation of RTX cards. This was intended for future headsets but couldn’t prevail and was removed.

RTX 3080 vs. RTX 2080 Ti vs. RTX 3070 Ti vs. 3080 Ti

We were surprised by the 3000 series cards.

It is safe to say that the jump in performance from the former flagship to the RTX 3080 is a bit bigger than we expected.

The 3080 has a slightly wider memory interface width than the 2080 Ti. The last generation car only has GDDR6 VRAM, which is much slower than the newer GDDR6X.

2nd generation ray tracing cores and 3rd generation Tensor cores are included in the RTX 3080. It can win over the RTX 2080 Ti and achieve a performance increase of up to 50%. The RTX 3080 is 400 500 cheaper.

Compared to the best partner cards, the 3080 offers up to 25% more performance on 4K Ultra and even more on 1440p and1080p. You pay 150 200 euros more on average because of the additional 2 gigabytes of VRAM.

The 3080 and 3070 Ti are compared here.

The 10GB version holds up well against the 3080 Ti and is only 10% behind. The article has a look at the RTX 3080 vs 3080 Ti.

RTX 3080 vs. RX 6800 XT vs. RX 6900 XT

The new generation has something to say, but it’s the same thing as the other series: neither one nor the other series is available. That is a different topic.

When it comes to gaming, you have to promise a 10 20% advantage.

The best RX 6800 XT cards are 100 euros cheaper than the average one. You can take a look at the detailed comparison between the two.

It must be said that an RTX 3080 should be compared to an xr 6800. More benchmarks are needed for a fair comparison.

In a direct comparison between the 3080 and 6900XT, the 3080 is slightly behind on all resolutions, while the 12GB variant is 2% ahead in 4K. The latter is very overpriced and makes no sense, which is why we only recommend 10GB models here.

The RX 6900XT is a good alternative to the RTX 3080 as it costs the same
